Libra Super New Moon Ritual

This month, HOA will host the final edition of our Sleepscape for the year, in conjunction with the third and last Super New Moon of 2019! Even though it is invisible to us on Earth, the Super New Moon is still a special celestial phenomenon that describes a new moon at its closest approach to the Earth. This year we were privileged to have three of them in a row!

On September 28th, the New Moon conjuncts with the astrological sign of Libra. Represented by the symbol of balancing scales, this sign is a reminder that balance takes constant effort. This season, we may find ourselves confronting chaos in our world, which gives us the opportunity to find balance. Harmony often cannot be understood and created until disharmony is experienced. We cannot learn the tools to calm us down and stabilise our emotions if we never feel instability. However, this does not mean suppressing inner chaos or ignoring the ebb and flows of our emotions. Tuning into Libra’s vibrations requires us to feel deeply into our feelings, to understand the root causes and identify the kind of reactions we are prone to making. Only then can we be equipped to develop the tools which helps us become aware of our emotions without reacting to them, and return quickly to emotional equilibrium. When we are able to be calm in any situations, we can better navigate our lives and inner landscape to confront any challenges.

The energies of Libra also governs all of our partnerships and teaches us the meaning of being a true team player. In order to maintain healthy relationships with those around us, we first need to learn the value of empathy, vulnerability and willingness to see each other’s perspectives. But to achieve these, we must first understand our center and then learn how to step away from our center to walk in someone else’s shoes. Unless we have inner balance, we cannot take on a differing viewpoint for fear of losing our self. It is only after we master our own energy and emotions that we can truly empathise with another person, and pursue harmonious relationships with those around us. Successfully navigated, each of our relationships takes awareness from both parties and the willingness to be vulnerable. Emotional vulnerability is when we let down our guards, show our true feelings, and risk being hurt or rejected because of our honesty. There is uncertainty and some discomfort, but there is also great rewards. When we allow ourselves to be fully seen, we cultivate love, compassion, and true belonging.

Throughout Libra Season, first, work on yourself by cultivating your own inner harmony. Identify the parts of yourself that you’re not fully at peace with and resolve them. Then, begin to observe how you show up in your partnerships when you are calm versus when you are in a reactive state. Remember that the frustrations and resentment you feel towards another person are merely projections of your own unresolved frustration and resentment towards yourself. The trick to maintaining healthy relationships with others is simply to cultivate a healthy relationship with the self. Go even further with this observation by starting to understand how your inner peace affects your ability to empathise with someone else. Nurturing balance and peace within the self will inadvertently extend to achieving outer peace with the world.

This New Moon, we will be harnessing the gentle energies of the Rose Quartz, the crystal of unconditional love. Often called the Heart Stone, Rose Quartz may have been used as a love token as early as 600 B.C. and is still an important talisman of relationships. It is quite effective in attracting new love, romance and intimacy, or in developing a closer bond with family or friends. It supports connection within groups and community, and carries a high spiritual attunement to the Earth, Universe, and the Divine.

The Rose Quartz emanates a soft feminine energy, and is associated with compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. It connects directly to the Heart Chakra, helping us dissolve emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulates a Divine loving energy throughout the entire aura. Reawakening the heart to its own innate love, it provides a deep sense of personal fulfilment and contentment, allowing one the capacity to truly give and receive love from others.
