The Full Moon on February 9th (our ritual on 8th) conjuncts with the fiery sign of Leo, which is ruled by the Sun. Leo’s energy is dynamic, explosive and full of passion, reminding us to live life to the fullest. This is a great time to feel into the full spectrum of our Being. Leo shows us that in order to live our dreams, we must have the courage to face our emotions to fully understand who we are and what we aspire to achieve in this life. Indeed we cannot create our highest visions if we cannot feel them into reality. We need to recognise what brings us joy, or what makes us feel authentic gratitude to manifest the reality that reflects these energies.
This Full Moon is a time to explore your feelings, and to express them in a way that opens up pathways to a higher vibratory state. Leo rules the heart and teaches us that it is the real center of our energy. Our thoughts are merely reflections of the heart. During this Full Moon, we may benefit from finding ways to silence the mind through meditation, to discover the true desires of our heart center.
This Full Moon, we may choose to harness the energies of Leo to courageously confront the landscape of our heart. Often, our thoughts prevent us from fully opening the doors of the heart because we may fear what we will find there. We may experience emotions such as sadness, grief, anger or other negative emotions that may feel like they are holding back our growth and progress. However, to experience the higher vibratory emotions, we need to feel the lower ones; we cannot pick and choose which emotions to feel. We must allow the full expression of every feeling, and let them form the path to our creative energy. Creativity comes from the part of us which is beyond thought and logic - it is connected to our intuition and our ability to feel.
Leo’s energy this Full Moon inspires our creative energy and reminds us that play is an essential part of self-care. Allow yourself to tap into your inner child and do the things you love and that makes you feel alive. As you reconnect with yourself through play, you will naturally connect with your innate creative wisdom. As you find your most creative self, your unique message to the world begins to shine through as well. Leo reminds us that we all are unique in our own way. We each have a unique set of talents, which need to be honoured and shared with those around us.
When working with the vibrations of Leo, we may come up against the Ego, which is Leo’s shadow. The Ego is the part of us that yearns to be defined by something. It is our identity in many ways and our conditioned patterns around who we are in this life. It is also our inner critique, our self-defeating thoughts, and the part of us that feels separated from others. The Ego can get in the way of us finding and expressing our true Self. During this Full Moon, we may choose to examine how the Ego is working against us, or how it comes through in our Sacred Work. Are you expressing yourself for the sake of vanity? Do you crave recognition and external validation? Are you working on the things that satisfy your deepest desires, or are you still striving to meet other people's expectations? We may choose to tap into the energies of the Sun in Aquarius to return to our Self. The energies of Aquarius honours radical individuality and our unique contributions to the world. Staying centered within the Self takes a deep awareness of when the Ego takes over, then redirecting our energy towards higher vibrations of compassion, love, and connection. Aligning with this part of ourselves allows us to honour our heart and give its message freely to the collective without needing approval.
This Full Moon, we will be working with the energies of the Carnelian. Known as the artist’s stone, the Carnelian crystal is a warm, vibrant stone that boosts confidence and the power of true expression. It is associated with taking bold action with its hot and fiery spirit that stimulates the root chakra, helping cultivate vital energy to your center, which contains your deepest sexual desires and powerful creative instincts. In antiquity, as well as today, Carnelian is believed to help timid speakers become both eloquent and bold. Ancient Warriors wore Carnelian around their neck for courage and physical power to conquer their enemies. In Egypt it was worn by master architects to show their rank of builder, and alchemists of the Middle Ages used it as a boiling stone to activate the energy of other Chalcedonies. As the first stone in the breastplate of the High Priest, it signified the blood of the martyrs, and was once believed to prevent illness and the Plague.
Orange stones, especially the Carnelians, are excellent aids for training, coordination of physical exercise programs, and for balancing body energy levels. Carnelians boost a listless attitude and can stimulate the appetite. Featured in a variety of shades ranging from orange and red to brown, use this 'worry stone' to bring out your childlike playfulness and spontaneity with its warm and sunny vibes. The Carnelian crystal not only boosts courage and self-confidence, but on a cellular level it purifies the blood and improves circulation, a must-have for any stressful situation.
