Pre-Order: Amazonian Cacao Tea
While waiting for your session to start, please help yourself to some cacao tea! We source the cacao directly from the markets of Peru, where they were organically grown in the lush Amazonian jungles. The Incas used to consider cacao as the drink of the Gods, and for good reason, as raw cacao is a superfood which offers many incredible health benefits;
Cacao contains anandamide and phenethylamine, which triggers the release of endorphins, uplifts our mood and could even create feelings of euphoria. These chemicals are often released naturally when we fall in love or engage in sexual activity. Cacao also boosts the brain’s levels of serotonin, the hormone in our body which helps keep mood-swings at bay. Not only does it taste good, cacao also makes us feel good!
PROTECTS OVERALL HEALTH
The flavanols found in cacao are an anti-inflammatory and heart-protective antioxidant group that can reduce risk of cardiovascular diseases, improve blood circulation and fend off stroke, as it thins blood and prevent blood clot. Cacao contains over 700 compounds, including the complex antioxidants known as polyphenols, which help reduce “bad cholesterol” and prevent hardening of the arteries. Cacao can also reduce the stress hormone cortisol, leading to improved metabolism and improved gut microbial activity. A Harvard study found that cacao appeared to improve cognitive function and prevent Alzheimer’s; the study showed that middle-aged folks who drank just two cups a day reported improved memory and increased blood flow to the brain!
BOOSTS ENERGY NATURALLY
Cacao serves an efficient pick-me-up, and best of all, it’s caffeine-free! This is because cacao has one of the highest concentrations of magnesium found in a natural food source, which helps to create energy and combat fatigue in the body, without overstimulating the nervous system. Perfect for a drink before a yoga class! Magnesium also helps to protect against osteoporosis, reduces type II diabetes, and lowers blood pressure.
The antioxidants found in cacao protect our cells from premature oxidation or destruction, which prevents signs of aging, thus making us look and feel younger. Flavanols from cacao also contribute to sunlight protection, preventing sunburn and reducing the risk of skin cancer. In 2006 the Journal of Nutrition found that at least 326mg of flavanols a day helped to improve dermal blood circulation, oxygen saturation and hydration in the skin, resulting in healthy-looking skin. Cacao is also a great source of sulfur, which has a significant impact on our complexion and hair. Sulfur is important in the regeneration of collagen and keratin, which gives hair and skin a healthy shine, while also playing an important role in driving nutrients in and out of cells, regulating blood sugar levels and repairing tissue damage.
